Our Approach to Couples Therapy: The Collaborative Co-Therapy Model

At our practice, we look at relationships through a unique lens. We know that a relationship doesn't exist in a vacuum—there is a powerful, bi-directional link between individual mental health and the health of your partnership.

When an individual is struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or high stress, it inevitably ripples into the relationship. Conversely, when a relationship is strained, it can trigger or worsen individual mental health concerns. Because individual well-being and relationship health are so deeply intertwined, traditional couples therapy can sometimes feel like trying to fix a bridge while standing on it.

To give your relationship the strongest possible foundation, we utilize a Collaborative Co-Therapy Model.

How it Works

To bring this model to life, my practice (Ripple Effects Therapy) partners directly with Reflective Minds Therapy, located right here in the same office suite.

Choose Your Clinician: Each partner in the relationship is free to choose which therapist they feel most aligned with. You can review our profiles to see who feels like the best fit:

If you aren’t sure, we are both happy to schedule a brief consultation call to help you determine who feels like the right fit for your individual journey.

Individual Alignment & Support: Each partner works with their chosen therapist. This provides a safe, focused space where you can address your personal history, emotional patterns, and individual goals without feeling defensive or rushed.

Therapist Collaboration: Behind the scenes, with your consent, Ashley and I collaborate closely to ensure clinical alignment, sharing insights to deeply understand the unique dynamics of your partnership.

Coming Together for Co-Therapy: When both individuals and both therapists feel the foundation is steady and ready, the four of us come together for couples co-therapy to directly assist with the concerns affecting the relationship.

Is This Model Right For You?

By having two therapists in the room, both partners are fully represented, heard, and supported. This minimizes the common fear of a therapist "taking sides" and provides a powerful, balanced environment to safely untangle relationship distress.

We completely understand that this model is unique and might not be what every couple is looking for. If you prefer a more traditional, single-therapist approach, we highly recommend utilizing psychologytoday.com as a wonderful resource to find a couple's therapist who meets your specific needs.
